Chinchero, Maras and Moray Day Trip + Picnic with llamas
Day Trip Details
We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco’s historic centre between 8 and 8.30 am to start this tour. We recommend that you’ve had breakfast beforehand. Are you ready? Let’s get started!
Our first stop will be the Chinchero Textile Centre, where we’ll discover the ancient techniques of spinning, dyeing and weaving that Andean communities have preserved for generations, as well as learning about their natural dyes.
We’ll continue to the Moray archaeological complex, famous for its impressive concentric circular terraces. There, you’ll discover how the Incas made use of the different microclimates at each level to experiment with their crops.
Next, we’ll visit the Maras Salt Mines, a complex of over 3,000 pools that have been mined using traditional methods since pre-Inca times. Before continuing, we’ll make a brief stop at a shop specialising in Maras salt to learn about its culinary and cosmetic uses.
Once the tour is over, we’ll head to a natural setting in the Sacred Valley of the Incas to enjoy an exclusive picnic surrounded by alpacas and llamas. You’ll have free time to take photographs and then enjoy a selection of local produce, drinks and wine.
After a 9-hour day of exploration, we’ll take you back to your hotel in Cusco.
